  • Learn Everything You Need to Know in 5 Weeks!

I recently participated in this class at the Henry's Oshawa location which was led by Jorge DaSilva beginning August 18th to September 15th. Divided into weekly classes with “test-yourself” techniques to reinforce what you’ve learned, this unique guided learning approach will help build your understanding of photography and post-production Lightroom skills so you can enjoy getting the most out of your photographs. I found Jorge to be a great teacher and many technical concepts were explained in simple language that any beginner can understand. I think it is important to have great teachers who really are excited about their work and helping others and I must say Jorge was certainly that. This course allows you to put your knowledge into practice with step-by-step editing techniques. I loved having a small classroom setting. There was a total of 5 students (class capacity) and I found this to be great for one-on-one teaching. Prior to this class I had some experience with Lightroom but was often confused by the importing process and organization. This course was amazing because it gives you some great organizational skills within the first week that can benefit any photographer. By the end of the second week I had reorganized my entire desktop to a simple organization method that I know I will be thankful for. This is my fourth workshop course at Henry’s Oshawa and one of my favourite take-aways is the class notes. For this course specifically the notes are so detailed and gave descriptions of all terminology and functions of each Lightroom adjustment. If your worried about taking notes and writing everything down don’t worry the class notes are extensive and I found myself only taking a small amount of notes each class. These notes were helpful when I was at home and working on my Lightroom program. If you are someone who mainly uses Photoshop I would also recommend this course because the techniques are often transferrable and great for those photographers looking to have knowledge in both programs. Every week we began with a recap of what we have learned which I found to be a great refresher. Before this class I relied on books and watching videos to understand Lightroom but it was never enough. If your someone who learns from hands-on and classroom settings like me than this is definitely the class for you. Jorge often would arrive to class early to help students with individual problems which I thought was amazing. Overall this class was my favourite of all the workshops I have taken through Henry’s. The amount of knowledge I walked away with was incredible. If your looking to learn about how to use post-production techniques to give your photos an extra polish than this class is certainly for you! This course gives you a great jump start and encourages you to practice, practice, practice! I am looking forward to taking more workshops through Henry’s in the future!
